
01 · THE DOOR
He didn't make a speech. He learned the game and got beaten at it. He held the kite string while the kid ran. When the kite tore in a tree, the three of them patched it on the porch and flew it again — and by the time it cleared the treeline, nobody in that yard was a stranger.

02 · TILL DAWN
Seventeen now. One night the two of them turned the whole world off and fought bosses until the window went pale. They laughed until they crashed. The kid fell asleep on his shoulder. That was the night he knew this bond would carry on.

03 · STAND UP
The kid grew into his right hand — the one at the next desk who knew what he needed before he did. And at his other children's graduation, when the parents were asked to stand, he hesitated. The grown kid beside him looked up and gave the smallest nod: go on. He stood.
